Unique Destination Resort, Viceroy Bali

Viceroy Bali, Jl. Lanyahan, Br. Nagi,  Ubud , Bali 80571,Indonesia,
Phone: +62 361 971 777 - Fax: +62 361 970 777

It's an experience like no other, in a setting beautiful enough to bedazzle royalty. Bespoke, exclusive, and luxurious, Viceroy Bali is a unique destination resort poised on a ridge overlooking the verdant Valley of the Kings in central Bali.

Located just seven minutes' drive from central Ubud, this tropical paradise feels like another world, with 25 Bali-styled luxury pool villas, bespoke amenities -- including a complete gymnasium and wellness-centered spa -- award winning restaurant, peerless service, and stunning surroundings. It's the perfect place for the discerning bon vivant to relax and renew in utter tranquility, for celebrants to gather for a wedding or reunion, or for executives to retreat to plan for the future.

Every aspect of the Viceroy Bali experience is infused with the unique and exotic. First there are the accommodations. Surrounded by the sights and sounds of the exotic flora and fauna of Bali, each has its own open air living area, complete with private pool. Inside, the décor is beautifully Balinese-themed. Each villa includes a living room with sectional sofa, oversized king bed, nicely-sized bathroom, espresso machine, 47-inch television, and iPod docking station. The villas range in size from 1,615 square feet (Garden Villa) to 4,306 square feet (Viceroy Villa), complete with balé. Of special interest for families and other larger groups: two of the deluxe terrace villas can be connected to form one large one; also, the villas are wheelchair-compatible.

Garden Villas
Each of the garden villas is 150 square meters (1615 ft2) comprised of an amply spaced bedroom and sitting room with combined indoor and outdoor living space; a spacious open plan bathroom integrating the private indoor swimming pool; and a garden and daybed (called a balé) where hours are easily spent relaxing with scenic vistas of the valley and beyond.

Terrace Villas
One of the highlights of the Terrace Villas is the balé, a small Balinese pavilion, graciously and conveniently perched over the private outdoor swimming pool. Guests relish sitting in the balé looking over the spectacular Petanu River gorge whilst having an afternoon drink, reading, or just enjoying a light meal and refreshment from room service.

Deluxe Terrace Villas
One of the design virtues of the Deluxe Terrace Villas is the balé, a small Balinese pavilion, perched over the private outdoor swimming pool. Guests appreciate the languid nature that comes with lying back in a balé looking over the spectacular Petanu River gorge whilst having an afternoon drink, reading, or just enjoying a light meal and refreshment, and certainly forgetting about the world they came from.

Vice Regal Villas
This exceptionally large 240 square meter (2583 ft2) villa offers an expansive yet intimate bedroom with a large open bathroom, an outdoor living area, a private outdoor swimming pool with outdoor shower, and a garden overlooking the Petanu River valley. The Vice Regal Villa 1 is ideally an elegant retreat for couples who appreciate open spaces and stylish surroundings.

Viceroy Villa
The Viceroy Villa is often referred to by guests as the resort’s Presidential Villa. This elegant accommodation has two very spacious bedrooms, each with high-thatched roofs and commodious luxury bathrooms.

Top Bali Adventure

Diving and snorkelling
Numerous diving and snorkelling spots border the island. Sanur, Tanjung Benoa and Lovina are for beginners; Amed, Tulamben and Menjangan (within Bali Barat National Park) offer isolated reefs; Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida across the Badung Strait contain rich marine life. Dive operators offer PADI certificates, but check that they have five-star PADI approval rating before booking in with anyone.

Surfing
Surf virgins and beginners can easily pick up the sport at Kuta and Legian beaches. More challenging breaks are found at Dreamland and Canggu beaches, while experienced surfers should check out breaks at Nusa Dua, and at Shipwrecks and Lacerations of Nusa Lembongan.

Mountain climbing
Experience sunrise atop Mount Agung, Bali's highest peak at about 3100m, which is a relatively easy climb of approximately three to six hours, or Mount Batukaru, the second highest peak at 2200m. They're best scaled from April through to October. For more thrills, hike up Mount Batur, an active volcano rising 1500m high with a large crater lake. Taking a guide is strongly recommended.
Bungee
If simply jumping off a 45m tower is boring, then execute some fancy leaps on a bicycle or motorbike at the only bungee jumping facility on Kuta Beach, operated by AJ Hackett. Or do a reverse bungee in the Bali Sling Shot (Jalan Kartika Plaza No 8X, Tuban; phone +62 361 758838), where you are hurtled 52m in to the sky while strapped in a chair within a capsule of metal bars.

Water rafting
My 77-year old mother-in-law has careened down 8km of the Ayung River in an inflatable raft and survived to tell the tale, so there is no excuse for anyone younger to not follow suit! The Telega Waja and Unda rivers offer equally exciting drops and impressive waterfalls. Check with Bali Adventure Tours for information on their packages.

Canyon tubing
Unlike water rafting, you go solo in a smaller inflatable raft through narrower streams and more challenging drops on this adrenaline experience. Offered by Bali Canyon Tubing, the journey through the Siap stream in Payangan also combines a flying fox trip and treads over wooden footpaths through parts of the canyon that are inaccessible on the raft.

Parasailing and paragliding
The best way to get a panoramic view of the beaches of Timbis, Sanur and Tanjung Benoa is from 100m in the air. Make sure your operator includes insurance! Exo-Fly is a reputable outfit with loads of experience doing Timbis Beach flights. April through to December is the best time to do it.

Quad & buggy biking
This will appeal to off-road junkies as you get to manoeuvre a 4WD motorbike or specially designed off-road car across some of the most picturesque rice fields, mountains and riverbanks in Bali. Tours by Bali Quad usually stop at a traditional house and bring you past several of the island's Hindu temples.

Paintball
This activity involves shooting paint pellets from air guns while running, and ducking from incoming paint pellets shot by opposing players. Not as simple as it sounds — dexterity, stamina and a good aim are essential if you really want to win. Paintball Bali's the place to go for more.
Treetop adventure
Try out your best Tarzan (or Jane!) as you navigate the circuits at Bali Treetop Adventure Park. Various challenge levels are at five, eight, 11 and 20 metres above ground. Thrills along the circuit are provided by various jumps, a flying fox and swings through the air.

World famous resort: Varadero, Cuba

Beaches
It’s not for nothing Varadero is Cuba’s most popular holiday spot. Some say its beach is the best in the world. And actually, once you’ve clapped eyes on the sands here, you’ll see where they’re coming from. A ribbon of powder white sand shoots in a straight line to the horizon. Seas of every shade of green and turquoise roll lazily onto shore. And palm trees provide that all-important Caribbean chorus line. Everything’s on a plate for you, too. Sunloungers, thatched parasols and beach bars dot the sands, the latter doling out chilled cocktails and snacks. And there’s a whole host of watersports at your beck and call. Head out on a jet ski. Paddle away the hours on a kayak. Or join a scuba diving or snorkelling trip to drift through throngs of technicoloured tropical fish. Vibe-wise you’ve got a really nice mix - some parts of the beach are buzzy while others are nicely quiet. If you fancy switching the setting for a day, though, book an excursion to one of the ‘cayos’ of the Sabana Camagüey archipelago. These pocket-sized pieces of paradise lie in the Atlantic just east of Varadero and offer up ice-white sands, ultramarine seas and a faraway feel. Or cast your net wider on a day’s plane trip to Cayo Largo. This white-sanded islet off Cuba’s south coast is about tropical as it gets. Cue pristine coral sands, neon-blue waters and hammocks strung between coconut palms. Throw in a mojito from a beach bar and you’ve got the complete desert-island dream.

In Varadero, there’s always the option of a stroll along the beach and a quiet supper under the stars. But this place has a way of wheedling out your inner party animal, so don’t bet on counting sheep nice and early. Perhaps it’s the music. Like everywhere in Cuba, salsa reigns supreme. Its rhythms seep from every door, window and keyhole from morning ‘til night.

La Arboleda, Varadero This tiny roadside bar has plenty of atmosphere. Make amigos with the locals, sink cuba libres and shimmy to live salsa under the trees.
